School is now closed to all but the most vulnerable and children of critical workers who have no option except to send their children to school so they can go to work. The government guidance is asking all parents to keep their children at home.

This is the advice from Gavin Williamson (Department for Education Secretary) via Twitter:

You should only send your child to school if you have to, because your work is critical to our COVID-19 response. If you are able to keep your child at home, you should. #StayHomeSaveLives

If you are eligible for free school meals, you can order a packed lunch for children by calling or emailing by 9am each day. Lunches will be available to collect from the school by 10.30am.

Curriculum

We are keen to support learning at home, in order for children to continue to make progress in their learning. However, we recognise that children’s individual access to the internet; ability to work alongside an adult; chance of using a computer and other equipment may vary hugely. Therefore, we will not be setting ‘lessons’ but signposting to learning opportunities. All of the teaching staff have prepared a variety of learning opportunities for our pupils in the event of a closure.

What we will do:

Ask you to talk, read and play with your child during the period of school closure;

Useful link pages for home learning during the school closure: http://holytrinity.herts.sch.uk/parentscarers/

Remind you of all our learning platform websites/passwords and the details for specific apps we use in school, such as Mathletics and Discovery Espresso

Provide activities and opportunities on the school website for each year group to access. Should the school be closed we will make sure you know where to access this information.

Thank you for your support,

Sarah Chaloner
